Scam Detector: How It Works?
How does China Parcels know a number is fake? We analyze millions of requests to spot anomalies. Please read about our Scam Detector technology, how we calculate risk levels, and why mobile phones sometimes trigger false alarms.
Security is a key part of our service. As a comprehensive web application, China Parcels does more than just show location updates. We have developed a unique Scam Detector algorithm designed to identify fraudulent activity at an early stage. This tool analyzes big data from millions of package tracking requests to protect your money.
The Technology Behind the Alert
Our track & trace system registers every single tracking request made on our platform. We save anonymous statistics regarding the number of checks and their countries of origin. The logic is simple: a legitimate tracking number usually belongs to one person.
If the data raises suspicions - for example, if a single number is tracked by hundreds of users from different countries - we identify it as an anomaly. We alert you immediately so you can recognize the danger and get your money back before the purchase protection period expires.
Understanding Scam Levels
Our system automatically assigns a fraud risk level to each tracking number based on real-time statistics. This process requires no action from you. We have identified four levels of risk:
- Very Low: Standard tracking behavior;
- Low: Minor deviations, usually normal;
- Medium: Worth monitoring;
- High: Strong evidence of fraud.

You should pay close attention to the High Scam Level. This status is triggered based on three main criteria:
- The number of different countries checking the parcel;
- The total volume of tracking requests;
- The total number of unique IP addresses involved.
False Alarms: The Dynamic IP Factor
Is our system perfect? No technology is 100% flawless, and false positives can happen. We determine a user's location partly by their IP address. However, modern internet usage can confuse algorithms.
If you check your parcel frequently from a smartphone using mobile data, your IP address changes dynamically. To a robot, it might look like 10 different people are checking the parcel, which raises the "suspicion score."
Our Advice: If you see a warning, do not panic immediately. Look at the list of countries. If the requests come from only one country (yours), it is likely just your own activity being counted. However, if you see checks from the USA, Brazil, Russia, and France for the same package, this is a definite sign of a fake number.
What To Do Next?
If our Scam Detector shows a High Level of fraud and you see checks from multiple countries, you are likely a victim of a scam. You need to act fast.
